Over 6,000 years ago, one of India’s greatest sages, Srila Vyasadeva, documented the Vedas for the first time. Revered as Shruti (“that which is heard”), the Vedas were traditionally passed down through an ancient oral teacher-disciple tradition. According to Hindu tradition, these sacred scriptures were revealed to the Rishis mentioned within them rather than written or composed by human beings.
The four primary Vedas are the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda.
Recognized among the oldest surviving texts in the world, the Vedas contain timeless wisdom across various aspects of life. Ayurveda originated as a branch of the Atharva Veda and is regarded as one of the oldest and most holistic systems of health and wellness known to humanity. Rooted in ancient knowledge of healing, prevention, and longevity, Ayurveda was deeply woven into a spiritual way of life long before it was formally recorded in written texts.
More than a medical system, Ayurveda represents a complete holistic lifestyle that focuses on maintaining harmony between the body, mind, spirit, and nature.
For centuries, Ayurveda often referred to as the “Science of Self-Healing” has remained an integral part of Indian households. Preserved through generations by oral traditions and ancient scriptures, it has evolved far beyond geographical and cultural boundaries. Today, Ayurveda stands proudly as a globally respected symbol of India’s timeless wellness heritage.
